Lil' Fame and Billy Danzenie are the musicians known as M.O.P. (Mash-Out Posse). The rap duo from Brooklyn released its debut "To the Death" in 1994. Thanks to this and their next two albums, M.O.P. was able to make a name for itself, at least in the New York underground scene.
The group's international break-through came with its "Warriorz" release in 2000, even though some critics thought that this style would not be popular with most hip-hop fans. Still, the album reached number 17 on the German album charts.
M.O.P.'s lyrics are mainly about daily life and problems on the streets of Brooklyn. Chicks, bling and money are generally not the focus.
After three years with no releases, Lil' Fame and Billy Danzenie left 50 Cent's G-Unit Records. There is no news yet about what label will release future recordings.
Our live recording of M.O.P. at splash! 2008 will surely be a special highlight for fans of tight American hip hop. In addition to the concert video, the download includes a bonus: a nearly 10-minute interview with Billy answering questions posed by Spax backstage at the splash! Festival.
