Graffiti Proper Propaganda
I started my Proper Propaganda in January 2007, inspired by the impact that political campaigns have always had on the urban scenario. I melt together the typical way to communicate of these campaigns, characterized by a heavy use of posters, with another strong form of expression that deeply contributed to redefine the city landscapes during the last few years. So a new type of propaganda was born, a “proper propaganda” able to model the great power of aerosol art, and to reinvent the use of posters. “Proper Propaganda” takes its name from the Dilated Peoples soundpiece, that urges a mediatic counterattack through the use of the same mass media, use that often determines the difference between who’s got the power, and who’s not, between those who speak loudly, and those who listens in silence. De-dramatizing this concept, I have transported advertising bills in a world, the aerosol art world, that apparently has got nothing to do with it. The result of this association is under the eyes of all: in the posters in the streets, in the photos that witness their presence, and in this video that document the first experiments and the birth of the project.
